Gospel Reflection
Jesus and his disciples are looking for a peaceful place. The crowds intrude and they have needs. The disiciples see the crowds are hungry, but don't think they have the resources to meet that need. Jesus believes otherwise. Jesus follows his customary pattern with food: take, thank, break, and give. What follows is abundance.
Come to St. Luke's this week and experience abundance as we gather around the Jesus' table.

Announcements
St. Luke’s
Our annual St. Francis Day/ Animal Blessings will occur on Sunday October 4th at 2pm.
We plan to have vendors, giveaways and other activities at this year’s event but really need your help!
If anyone is interested in assisting with this fun church and community event, please meet with Deacon Carol during coffee hour Sunday, August 9th.
Remember the First Presbyterian Church food bank when you go grocery shopping! Put non perishable foods in the basket at the church door.
School Supplies are being collected by First Presbyterian Church to help families in need in our local community. If you would like to donate backpacks or any new school supplies, please leave them alongside the food donations in the narthex (the entry way at the back of the Church). Donations of school supplies can be offered this weekend or next, 2 or 9 August, so they will make it to the families in time for school.
Ain't No Back to a Merry-Go-Round is an untold, but important and encouraging, story of the Civil Rights movement in the U.S. We have the opportunity to bring this feature film to St. Luke's along with its Emmy award winning director Ilana Trachtman for a conversation after the screening. Temple Neve Shalom and Temple Imanu El are splitting the cost with us three ways: our share is $900. If you would like to help sponsor this important event at St. Luke's, please see Fr. Todd or email fathertodd@stlukesmetuchen.org.
