Gospel Reflection

Jesus walked on the water. Peter wanted to follow Jesus, but after only a few steps his nerve failed and he began to sink. That's why Jesus helped him back into the boat.

We call the space where we worship a "nave": in other words, a boat. The roof is shaped a little like the hull of a boat we are sailing into the heavens. The nave is a safe place for us to encourage one another as we learn to follow Jesus, in the boat or out on the waters of chaos.

Come join us in the nave this week as we look for Jesus together!

Calling All Guardians of the Galaxy!

Our Vestry is seeking to create a team of volunteers to assist with supervising our campus during times when the facility is being used by the community at large.

The precise specifications of the roles have yet to be finalized, as we would like input from team members.

WE ARE SAINT LUKE'S

Our annual St. Francis Day/ Animal Blessings will occur on Sunday October 4th at 2pm.
We plan to have vendors, giveaways and other activities at this year’s event but really need your help!
If anyone is interested in assisting with this fun church and community event, please meet with Deacon Carol during coffee hour Sunday, August 16th.

Land Acknowledgment: St. Luke’s Church sits on land that was once the home of the Lenni Lenape people. The land was taken from them by force. Metuchen takes its name from Metochshaning, a noted Lenape leader, whose name was heard as “Matouchin” by the Dutch settlers. We respect the tribe’s long association with this territory, aware as we are of the historical tragedy of the settlement and colonization of this land by Europeans.

Ain't No Back to a Merry-Go-Round is an untold, but important and encouraging, story of the Civil Rights movement in the U.S. We have the opportunity to bring this feature film to St. Luke's along with its Emmy award winning director Ilana Trachtman for a conversation after the screening. Temple Neve Shalom and Temple Imanu El are splitting the cost with us three ways: our share is $900. If you would like to help sponsor this important event at St. Luke's, please see Fr.
