WARNING: TEXTING SCAM
A message from Fr. Todd:
A member of the St. Luke's Vestry this week received texts claiming to be from me and asking for help -- buying gift cards! The text messages were not from me.
I almost never send texts.
I don't deal in gift cards.
I will not ask you to give in ways that side-step the careful and transparent accounting of our parish finance team. Donations for specific causes are best made by placing them in the offering plate and attaching a note about what they're for.
Emails and text messages are easy to spoof. Impersonating clergy is a favorite tactic of online scammers today. If you receive an electronic message from anyone asking for cash or a cash equivalent (e.g., gift card) it is probably a scam.
If you have any question about a message purporting to be from me, please verify it by speaking with me in person.
Gospel Reflection
Jesus says that faith the size of a mustard seed can do amazing, unexpected things. Where and how do we plant a mustard seed bit of faith in our own life, in order to see what God will do with it? Come Sunday and find out!
Announcements
Sign up for Pumpkin Patch Sales
Saturday, 4 October, 9am - The pumpkins will be arriving at St. Luke’s. We need all able bodies to help unload the truck. It has always turned into a fun morning. If you know any young people who need community service hours we will happily sign off for them. Please let Brenda or Monica know if you will be able to help.
Pumpkins are St. Luke’s biggest fundraiser. We need people to cover the patch and sell them. There is a “how to” book to make it easy. It is also an incredible opportunity to introduce people to St. Luke’s “All Are Welcome”. There is a sign-up sheet at the back of the church and one available at Coffee Hour. If you miss those you may call the church office 732-548-4308.
Sunday, 5 October, 2025 from 2-4 pm is Blessing of the animals. Please bring your pet and join us for a blessing as well as activities, give aways and pet welfare information.
We will be supporting Sammys Hope Animal Welfare and Adoption Center. Kindly bring your donations of pet food and/or pet supplies to the basket at the church entrance or go online to Sammys Hope website and visit their Amazon Wish List.
Sunday, 12 October at 11:30am - Ministry Fair
