Connecting you to the events, meetings & services
at St. Luke’s, Metuchen

September 18, 2025

Dear Friends,

For 157 years, God has been at work in the community of St. Luke's, faithfully providing and empowering us for ministry. In October we will begin to dream together about what our 158th year will look like: how we will continue to say together, "We are St. Luke's!"

We begin the dreaming with our Stewardship season: a few weeks of talking about the resources available to us in this season and how we want to deploy those resources in the year to come. What you give to St. Luke's is not just about maintaining a building and paying clergy and staff. What you give is about worship, about forming children (and adults!), about caring for one another, and about making a difference in the world outside the walls of St. Luke's.

This coming week you will receive a letter about Stewardship. At the beginning of October you will receive a Pledge Card in the mail. Please consider what it means to you to say "We are St. Luke's" and be sure that you express that not only on your Pledge Card, but also in your presence, participation, and expressions of care for one another.

Faithfully,

Todd+

Gospel Reflection

This week's Gospel (Luke 16.1-13) contains what is commonly called the "Parable of the Dishonest Manager" in which Jesus seems to commend and even recommend the financial malfeasance of the protagonist "because he had acted shrewdly." Is this how we are called to act? Come to St. Luke's this weekend and let's talk about it.

September Wardens Minutes

Welcome back after what was hopefully a great summer. Hope you were able to make the welcome back picnic, it was great. The pumpkins are coming October 4th at 9am. Any and all help offloading the over 1800 pumpkins and guards would be greatly appreciated. Afterwards the selling begins both of the pumpkins and of St Luke's. It takes a village. If we all pitch in the job will be far more manageable, sign up to sell often!

Pumpkins are St. Luke’s biggest fundraiser. We need people to cover the patch and sell them. There is a “how to” book to make it easy. It is also an incredible opportunity to introduce people to St. Luke’s “All Are Welcome”. There is a sign-up sheet at the back of the church and one available at Coffee Hour.
