Gospel Reflection
Hating your family, suicide by cop, and becoming destitute: is this what Jesus is asking of us in Luke 14.25-33? None of it sounds very "nice" to me. Where is the good news in this?
Come to St. Luke's on Sunday and let's talk about it.
The Blessing of the backpacks will be Sunday, 7 Sept, at the 10am service.
Our kickoff picnic is this Sunday, 7 Sept, at 11.30, rain or shine! Please join us (even if you forgot to sign up)!
Please speak to Linda Zeh about contributing to hiring a bouncy house for the picnic: as an expression of affection for our own children and as an expression of welcome to our neighbors!
Nails in the Wall Gallery invites you for the opening reception of Growing from the Ruins Exhibit. Saturday September 13, 2pm to 4pm.
On Saturday, 18 September, at 5.30pm we will celebrate the Feast of St. Luke with a visit from our Bishop. Would you be willing to help provide food for a meal afterward? Please speak to Fr. Todd or ot Monica if you can help.
Stewardship Season for St. Luke's will be in October this year. Please watch this space, and your mailbox, for an invitation to empower the ministry of St. Luke's in 2026 with your prayerfully considered pledge!
We are accepting Donations to Gift Baskets for Christmas Fair. Questions? Contact John, Susan or Karen.
We are collecting pet care items for Sammy's Hope shelter in advance of our annual celebration of the Feast of St. Francis and a Blessing of the Animals on 5 October. Please bring your donations in to the basket at the back of the nave.
Our 2025 Ministry Fair is scheduled for Sunday, 19 October, at 11.30am (coffee hour). Are you involved with something beyond sitting in a pew at St. Luke's? Others want to hear about your ministry! Are you looking to recruit additional help for your tasks? This is the perfect day! Please contact the office if you would like to reserve a table (whole or half) for the ministry fair. You are invited to bring items that help you talk about your ministry, and maybe a treat to share with those who come by your table!
Do you have a developmentally disabled family member or friend? Shine your Light Ministries offers worship services designed to meet the needs of developmentally disabled people of any age. Deacon David Barr and his wife Donna Barr head this wonderful program for people who are often overlooked in churches. A simple, lively, worship service will be held here at St. Luke's on Sunday, September 28th at 2pm in the afternoon. Coffee/snack (everybody's favorite part!) will follow. Please come, and bring a friend!
Come Celebrate 40 years of Diaconal Ministry in the Diocese of New Jersey with a Diocesan Eucharist on September 6, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Trinity Cathedral! We will be honoring our own deacons, the Ven. Carol Pepe and the Rev. Dcn. Anne Lemay.
ECS-NJ Gala: On Thursday, 18 September at 6pm, the gala take place at Pines Manor in Edison. If you would like to be part of a St. Luke's table for this event, please speak to Janice Stapley.
