Gospel Reflection
Jesus says, "I am the gate for the sheep." Jesus leads us by paths of green pastures and still waters. Jesus came that we "may have life, and have it abundantly." Join us at St. Luke's this Sunday as we come together to receive the life that only Jesus offers.

Warden’s Corner
At the Vestry meeting on April 21. Fr. Todd opened with a prayer. The vestry approved the minutes from the 2/17/26 Meeting. The Rector’s, Treasurer’s, Buildings & Grounds, and Facilities Use Team reports were each approved as submitted. Treasurer Tammy F. noted an influx of pledges in March. Progress continues in updating the financial side of Churchtrac, our new accounting system; this must be completed before we can fully utilize the program. At this time, the vestry also approved Appendix B, an amendment to our by-laws which will allow for greater transparency in the use of parish funds. Paul P. advised that B&G continues to seek quotes for various safety, landscaping, and kitchen projects. Linda P. reported that decluttering continues, having filled 2 dumpsters! Items from the Chapel attic are going to the Garage Sale. The vestry also reached decisions on general rental policies and specific rental issues. Stay tuned for the rollout of our Smoke Detector Campaign! (Bonus FYI: The pumpkins arrive October 3rd!)

Ministry Corner
Welcome to the Ministry Corner, a new series describing the many opportunities for service here at St. Luke's. This week we highlight the Hot Meals Ministry. On the fourth Sunday of every month (except July and August), our Hot Meals team serves approximately 80 nutritious meals at the Community Renewal Center of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Keansburg, a shore community deeply affected by poverty, This ministry truly reflects one of our core missions: To care for those less fortunate than ourselves. Our team members consider this a calling and find their work very rewarding. However, St. Luke's participation in this ministry, led for over 20 years by Jim Mandler and Patrick Conley, is due to end in June, as Jim and Patrick will be stepping down as co-chairs. We are seeking new leaders so our part in this vital work may continue. Please, we ask you to prayerfully consider taking on this role. Jim and Patrick will gladly provide detailed information. They may be reached at jfmandler@aol.com or ptcsyrek@aol.com.

The Anti-Racism Commission (ARC) of the Diocese of New Jersey invites you to register for our six-week, online Anti-Racism Training course that focuses on awareness and understanding of how institutional racism is hidden in the systems and institutions that make up American society and culture. Together, these institutions participate in a system of racism that covertly reinforces false ideologies that deny and justify racial and ethnic inequities. The training consists of six two-hour classes on Zoom and a self-study program in between the Zoom meetings that takes about two hours a week to complete. The cost is $100 per person. Scholarships are available.

Tea & Scones Book Club at St. Luke's is back!
We will be reading Madeleine L'Engle's A Circle of Quiet for our next book club selection. She is another of the great Episcopal writers and her works are very readable. Hopefully, her personal reflections will spark discussions about our own! It's divided into four sections with smaller sections within each, so we aren't working with clear chapters, but it should be doable. I've grouped it into six fairly equal parts of about 40 pages each (in my copy, which is the paperback). The book is available at local libraries, as well as through interlibrary loan at your local library, and at Barnes & Noble (online) as well as on Hoopla and Kindle as an ebook.
We will meet in the Fryer Room at 1:00 p.m. If you need a door code, Please contact Deacon Anne - or just ring the bell.
Tommy will be our barista once again!
Dates:
May 3
I look forward to seeing you!
Best, Deacon Anne
