Connecting you to the events, meetings & services

Sunday, Mar 8, 2026 - Daylight Saving Time Starts.
Don't be late for church! This weekend is the spring time change for Daylight Savings Time. Be sure to "spring forward" (set your clocks forward) an hour before you go to bed Saturday night. Most of our computers (including cell phones) will change automatically, but you still might want to take into account the change in calculating how much sleep you need!

Gospel Reflection

Jesus met her at a well outside the town of Sychar, in Samaria. The evangelist said Jesus "had" to pass through Samaria. Scholars say no GPS would have plotted that course: Jesus went out of his way to go through Samaria. He "had" to for a different reason.

Christian tradition calls her Photini: bringer of light. She is the most successful proclaimer of the Gospel we've seen besides Jesus himself. Maybe Jesus "had" to pass this way so she could teach the twelve how the word is passed. She didn't thump her Bible or use unassailable logic to argue down other points of view. She just told her neighbors what she had experienced and asked, "What do you think?"

What's your story? Why is Jesus a part of your life? What do you think?
Come to St. Luke's on Sunday. Let's talk about it.

The Good Friday Cross Walk is coming quickly!

Come one, come all to a planning meeting for the St. Luke's 2026 Metuchen Cross Walk. We will meet about 7.30pm (after Vespers) on Tuesday, March 10.
Come at 7pm for Vespers, and stay for the planning meeting. We'll meet in the Robbins Room immediately after Vespers.

The Rite of Reconciliation (individual confession: see BCP 446) is always available by appointment from Fr. Todd or Mo. Barbara. You will also have opportunity to come make confession without appointment during Holy Week. If you are interested, come to the Chapel of the Holy Family (where Children's Chapel, Vespers, and the mid-week Eucharist meet) between 6-6.30pm on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday: 30, 31 March and 1 April.

Are you interested in organizing a "Garden Watch" on the evening of Maundy Thursday (2 April)?

There is a long tradition of watching in prayer with Jesus as we begin the Great Three Days. Most parishes accomplish this by signing up for shifts to pray through the night. If you are interested in organizing the sign-ups, please speak to Fr. Todd or send him an email.

Palm Sunday is also Passion Sunday, when instead of a homily we read the passion of our Lord. This year we will read the passion according to Matthew, and we will read it in parts, as Readers' Theater. Parts needed include the Narrator, Jesus, Judas, Peter, High Priest, Witness, Servant, Pilate's Wife, and Pilate. Please contact Kathy M. if you would like to read one of these parts. Readers for each part are needed for each of our three weekend services!

Coffee Hours hosts: Karen S. and Tom B.

Join us to Candlelight Vespers and Conversation. Tuesdays in Lent at 7pm in the Chapel at St. Luke’s.

Episcopal Relief and Development and Sister Monica Clare from the Community of St. John Baptist (in Mendham, NJ) offer us a series of meditations for Lent designed to lead us more deeply into our very Episcopalian ways of knowing God.

Written by Sister Monica Clare, an Episcopal nun, author and unlikely TikTok star, these meditations offer an invitation to rediscover — or deepen — holy habits of prayer, worship and Scripture engagement. These holy habits provide a path to a life rooted in God, given shape, meaning and direction.

You can engage in these meditations at home on your own throughout Lent, but you are especially invited to join us in the chapel at St. Luke's on Tuesdays at 7pm as we celebrate the service of Vespers (in which the meditations are rooted) and talk together about the meditation of the day.

Download the meditations and follow along!
