Gospel Reflection

In an era of “No Kings” marches, what do we mean when we celebrate ‘Christ the King’ Sunday? What kind of king is Jesus? And why is the Gospel reading for Christ the King Sunday all about the Crucifixion?
Come to St. Luke's this Sunday and find out!

Warden’s Corner

The Vestry held their monthly meeting this past Tuesday evening. We discussed the results of our recent Stewardship Campaign. We are slightly higher from last year. Our 2024 campaign resulted in our pledged amount being $176,444. The 2025 campaign is at $178,164. We are still hoping to see pledges coming in during the next few weeks. These pledges are vital for us to create and approve the budget for 2026. Buildings and Grounds are continuing to look into wired smoke detectors for Fryer Hall and replacement of the ceiling for our tenant Petite Enfants School. Our Rental Committee has reported that they will compose a streamlined document for parishioners to use if they would like to rent space in Fryer Hall. The Vestry has approved a recommendation from Fr. Todd that St. Luke’s absorbs the salary of a section lead singer for the 2026 budget. It is hoped that each year coming we add an additional section lead singer to the budget. At present our section lead singers are paid through the generous donations of anonymous donors. The Finance Committee is actively investigating changing our accounting platform to a more user friendly and less expensive system. Finally, please mark your calendars for our Annual Meeting. The date will be February 1 after the 10am service.

Finances

Notes:

1. Pledge income is above budgeted, due to new pledges received since the budget was written.
2. Total revenue includes pledge income.
3. Expenses are below budget due to the hard work of staff and volunteers at St. Luke's, as well as as a one-time windfall tax refund of approximately $30,000. Expenses are also affected by the unevenness of certain large bills (e.g., insurance) that only come in quarterly or annually.
