Coffee Hour

Coffee Hour provides a wonderful opportunity for parishioners to enjoy a time of fellowship following the 10:00 am Sunday Service.  Coffee Hour Hosts are needed on a weekly basis.  Hosts arrive by 9:00 am Sunday morning to set up for coffee hour - prepare the coffee, tea, bagels, donuts, coffee cake or whatever additional goodies are there for coffee hour - and at the end of coffee hour, they clean up.

Acolytes

Acolytes, who include crucifers and torch bearers, serve on the altar during the services.  The crucifer carries the cross during processions, hands the offering plates to the ushers, receives the offering plates and oblations and hands them to the deacon, and assists the deacon and priest during the Eucharist.  The torch bearers accompany the crucifer during the processions.  Children are encouraged to become torch bearers beginning in the first grade.  They are graduated to crucifer when the deacon and priest feel that they are ready.

Church Service Ministries

a caring church

Ushers

Ushers greet parishioners & visitors when they arrive at the service and hand out bulletins. They also provide visitors with a brochure about St. Luke’s and answer any questions they may have.  Additionally, ushers assist in the offertory collection, ring our church bell at the end of the service and help tidy up the church when the service is over.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers play an integral part in the service assisting the priest and deacons on the altar.  Some of the ways in which a Eucharistic Minister assists is by reading the New Testament reading, holding the Gospel for the deacon, reading the prayer list, offering the challis, and welcoming newcomers.

Lectors

Lectors serve our community and those who visit by reading the Old Testament passage
during the service.

Altar Bread

The Altar Bread ministry bakes the wonderful altar bread used at the 10:00am Sunday Service.  Members are given a recipe from which to bake the bread - three loaves at a time.
